Seeking an experienced Primary Care/Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a full-scope family practice clinic serving infants through mature adults.

Healing Roots Medicine is a primary care practice with 2 providers. We offer full conventional Western medicine while incorporating integrative, alternative, and functional medicine practices. We accept most major insurance plans.
Healing Roots Medicine is unique because we keep our practice small so we can spend more quality time with our patients and get to the root of the issue, rather than offer quick, band-aid care.
Nurse Practitioner — Integrative Primary Care (0.5-0.75 FTE)

The opportunity
Healing Roots Medicine is a small, independent, NP-owned integrative primary care practice in Bend. We provide comprehensive primary care and add functional and integrative therapies to it, working on root causes instead of just managing symptoms.

We are hiring a nurse practitioner for two to three 10-hour clinic days a week (0.5–0.75 FTE), with the option to expand to full time. You will practice independently under Oregon's full practice authority, with no supervising-physician arrangement. This position is for nurse practitioners only; we are not able to hire physician assistants unfortunately.

It fits a clinician who wants longer visits, Fewer patients, a manageable panel and real autonomy, and who is curious about integrative medicine whether or not you have formal training in it yet.
Compensation
A guaranteed base salary plus a share of what you collect. We think that is fairer than straight salary and more predictable than pure production.

Base salary: $140,000 a year full-time equivalent ($70,000 at 0.5 FTE, $105,000 at 0.75 FTE), paid every two weeks regardless of volume

Commission: a share of collections on services you render, paid on everything above your base

How you are paid: Every 2 weeks. Your base is guaranteed every pay period. Once your commission for a period exceeds the base, you receive the base plus the commission above it.

Combined pay: base plus commission reaches up to about $200,000 a year full-time equivalent, depending on your schedule and patient volume. This is an estimate, not a guarantee.
For context, nurse practitioners in the Bend area typically earn an average of about $148,000 a year in primary care. Our base is competitive with that on its own, and the commission is on top.​

What the work looks like
Full-spectrum primary care for patients age 6 and older with commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, including:

Chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, anxiety and depression, plus acute concerns

Prescription management
-
Women's health, men's health, adolescent and school-age care, and mental health
-
Bioidentical hormone therapy for menopause care and men's health
-
Autoimmune screening and management, thyroid disorders, POTS and gut health
-
Medically supervised weight management, including GLP-1 therapy
-
Ordering, interpreting and managing advanced imaging and testing
We do not do chronic opioid management or controlled-substance treatment for ADHD. We co-manage those patients with pain medicine and psychiatry.
Mentoring is available in every one of these areas. We would rather teach a curious clinician than hire someone who already knows everything. You are also invited, not required, to contribute to patient education, blog writing and community outreach.

What we are looking for;
Required

Active, unrestricted Oregon NP license with prescriptive authority, or eligibility to obtain one, plus DEA registration or eligibility

National certification as a family nurse practitioner

Strong documentation habits
-
Comfort working autonomously while enjoying a small team

Willingness to learn functional and integrative approaches, and to keep learning
Preferred
-
Experience in primary care, internal medicine or urgent care (1+ years)

Experience with bioidentical hormones and menopause care
-
Working knowledge of supplements, nutrients and nutrition as they support specific conditions
-
Prior exposure to functional or integrative medicine
