Havilah Brodhead, FNP
Family Nurse Practitioner, Chief Medical Officer, CEO

Havilah Brodhead, FNP is a board-certified family care nurse practitioner (FNP), with training in functional medicine and integrative medicine through the School of Applied Functional Medicine, the Institute of Functional Medicine, and the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. In Oregon, as in many states, FNPs work independently of a physician with a similar scope of practice. FNPs can diagnose, prescribe, do small-office procedures, make referrals, and function as a primary care provider. FNPs are trained to provide care to all ages.

Havilah grew up in rural Rocky Mountains of Gunnison, Colorado, at over 7, 700 ft elevation. She graduated from her hometown university, Western State, in 2008, with honors magna cum laude, in Spanish & pre-med . It was in the Rocky Mountain playground she cultivated her love for mountain biking and skiing.

Havilah began her journey in healthcare in 2008 with a Master's degree in Nursing & Clinical Nurse Leadership from California State University. Her thesis explored the blending of complimentary & alternative medicine with traditional/conventional medicine.

Focusing in acute care, she worked for the next several years in emergency medicine and intensive care at hospitals such as OHSU in Portland, Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City & Park City, and St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver.

While working on her Acute Care and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Colorado State University, Havilah worked as a bilingual RN for Boulder County Public Health, where she provided home visits for prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric care to high-need/high-risk families.

Upon completing her nurse practitioner degree in 2014, Havilah & her husband moved to Bend to be closer to family (and the mountain biking). She has since practiced primary care and urgent care/walk-in care for La Pine Community Health Center & St. Charles, as well as PRN for Deschutes Onsite Clinic, Oregon Youth Challenge, and Viva Gyn Women's Health.

She is excited to have more time with her patients, provide more holistically-centered care, and offer functional medicine!

Her greatest joy is spending time with her two little daughters and husband.

Havilah is licensed in Oregon and Washington and can care for residents of both. Virtual visits for WA and Oregon patients are also available. Patients of any state are always invited to come to our clinic in Bend for an in-person visit with Havilah for Functional Medicine. Havilah Is accepting new patients for a limited time.

Jeremy Brodhead, FNP
Family Nurse Practitioner

Jeremy grew up in Pennsylvania, however his love for the outdoors drew him to the western US, finally landing in Bend with Havilah and his two young daughters.

His first degree is from Penn State in biochemistry and molecular biology. Before becoming an NP, he worked in genetics (in Singapore!), then realized he truly wanted to work with people, not in a lab. Thus, he went back for further education to become an RN at DeSales University in PA. Jeremy worked as a lead charge nurse for several years in cardiac and respiratory ICU in Salt Lake City, UT and Boulder, CO. Finally, he returned once again for a third degree as an acute care/family nurse practitioner at University of Colorado. He has additionally taken continuing medical education credits in functional medicine and men's health. Before joining us at Hearthside, Jeremy worked at St Charles Family Care for five years.

Jeremy is a jack of all trades functioning as CEO, provider, chief medical officer in charge of care quality and standards, IT and system optimization, and much more. He is taking new patients for general primary care, weight loss, men's health, and sports performance.

In his free time he can be seen training and racing mountain bikes for the Hearthside Medicine Cycling Team in an effort to help spread the word of Hearthside Medicine to our community.

Beth Buchanan,
MS, NTM, FMCHC
Functional Nutritionist and Health Coach

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Beth grew up with a love for playing outdoors and eating fresh, locally grown foods. But for years she dealt with digestive issues she thought were normal.  In 2008, after earning her master's in Exercise Physiology, she met a Functional Nutrition Therapist who gave her answers to these health problems and changed her life.

This experience ignited a passion to dive deeper into lifestyle medicine and more specifically the role of food as medicine. She spent 11 years teaching elementary Physical Education and always incorporated food and lifestyle support with her students and loved watching them thrive with this information.

Being in the health and fitness field since 2003, Beth has worked with all ages and walks of life from individuals with MS, to autoimmune conditions, cancer rehab, digestive health, and more.

In working in the fitness industry it became more and more apparent that movement was really only half the picture.  In order to make a lasting change, nutrition and lifestyle must come together for optimal health.  Beth chose to pursue Functional Nutrition Therapy for its origin in Functional Medicine and the way it supports the body as a holistic unit using food, movement, sleep, lifestyle, and stress resiliency.

"A teacher at heart, I thrive on helping my patients understand the nature of their condition and how daily lifestyle choices, to include nutrition and movement and stress resiliency are within their reach and can drastically improve their quality of life."

In her free time, Beth enjoys mountain biking, cross country skiing, gardening, camping, yoga, cooking and spending time in the outdoors with her family.

Nutrition therapy supports many conditions to include but not limited to:

Female hormonal health (menstrual cycle optimization, PCOS, infertility, perimenopause...)

Thyroid conditions (hypothyroid, Hashimoto's...)

Blood sugar regulation and diabetes management

Autoimmune conditions (Hashimoto's, celiac, RA, MS...)

Gut health (SIBO, IBS, GERD...)

Adrenal function

Cholesterol management and more
